Monarch Coffee Cartel is but a spring chicken, but you have have already popped with your second location, congrats! Tell us about what drew you to Stellenbosch.
Stellenbosch has always been on our minds in terms of expansion because it is a buzzing and vibrant town with a large number of coffee lovers, which we absolutely love. When the opportunity to move into a lovely and centrally located space presented itself, we thought, "Why not? Let's take our coffee to Stellies.
The green and pink interior is a hot look! Tell us about how the cafe’s aesthetic came to be, please.
We always strive to stay on trend and embrace what is hot and vibrant. We thought, "Why not aim to be the most Instagrammable cafe in Stellenbosch?" For us, our aesthetic and ambiance are just as crucial as our exceptional coffee.

What coffee is in the hopper right now from your talented roasting team?
Our Queen's Blend is a medium-roasted blend crafted from South American and East African beans. This delightful and smooth coffee represents our signature blend, characterized by chocolate notes and a delightful sweet aftertaste.
This location has a full on food menu, exciting! Tell us about how you approached your food menu and what are your current favourites?
Well, we desired our guests to not only have access to the finest coffee in Stellies but also to enjoy exceptional food choices. We aimed to provide fresh, effortless, yet delectable grab-and-go options, as well as a few delightful sit-down choices. Our current favourites include the Italian Panini, the Breakfast Bun, and our Cinnamon Twist.
You also have an extensive list of drinks that are ’not coffee’ on your menu, we love that! So many options. What excites you about this section of your menu?
We strive to cater to everyone's preferences and ensure there is always something for everyone. In addition to our delightful coffee offerings, we provide a selection of 'non-coffee' hot drinks, including our delicious homemade hot chocolates. For cold beverages, we offer a variety of fresh and healthy juice options along with refreshing smoothies.

At the most recent Coffee Magazine Awards, we were thrilled to receive the award for the best packaging! Thank you so much, everyone! Monarch is proud to be at the forefront of the Tin Revolution in South Africa. A crucial aspect of eco-friendly packaging is its reusability and recyclability. Our coffee tins are designed to be reused and, if you dare, eventually recycled. Hooray for going green!
