Also inside the box is Coffee Magazine issue #51, which has an important article on the current global coffee price crisis, which is essential reading!

Right, on with the review!  Today we feature .....drum roll please.....

ROHO Coffee - Roodeport

ROHO Coffee's Soul blend combines Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, Uganda Bugisu, and Tanzania AA - all premium AA Arabica beans sourced exclusively from Africa. This harmonious mix delivers a balanced cup with vibrant citrus and floral notes from Ethiopia, complemented by the rich body of Uganda Bugisu and the smooth finish of Tanzania AA.

ROHO Coffee is a proudly South African artisanal coffee company based in Roodepoort that specialises in the roasting of premium African-sourced green beans. The name "ROHO," is derived from Swahili, and translates to "soul" or "spirit," qualities embodied in every cup. With a deep commitment to promoting sustainable farming practices, ROHO aims to uplift local communities and raise global awareness of Africa's rich coffee heritage. As an aspirational brand, ROHO celebrates the diverse flavours of African coffees, bringing people together through shared experiences while honouring the continent's profound impact on the global coffee industry.

The blend is medium to medium dark and consistently roasted.

We tried the Soul Blend as an espresos and then added some milk to try it as a flat white. We got excellent crema from the shot and the espresso was fully bodied, with quite high acidity and a nice bitterness that rounded out the nutty flavours of peanuts and smokey whiskey.

Adding milk definitely added a really nice layer of sweetness that turned the flavour profile towards peanut brittle and molasses. This is a very good coffee for cold winter mornings and is sure to give you a good kick-start to your day!

Look at that shot!

Nice crema and a full bodied shot!

You can find ROHO coffee at Fresh House supermarket in Blueberry Square  for anyone wanting to get a bag to try. They truly believed in the vision and advocate for similar practices in what they sell, making them a great partner in bringing quality, sustainably sourced coffee to more people. More locations coming soon. Stay tuned!
