Review: The Minipresso NS2 by Wacaco

This is the third and final review in our “best portable espresso machine” series, and we’ve saved the simplest and most budget friendly item for last!

The Minipresso NS2 is compact, incredibly simple to operate and is the most costs efficient out of all the options we’ve reviewed.

We took this neat little product down to the beach for a coffee, and all we needed was hot water in our trusty flask and a few Nespresso compatible pods from our friends at 4WKS.

The concept is very much the same as the other models, except you don’t need a grinder or ground coffee, you don’t need a scale or any dosing at all, you don’t need to assemble lots of pieces together… you literally just pop a capsule into the brewer and give it a tap to pierce the membrane on the pod (which is very satisfying!), you fill the reservoir with water, and you start pumping. That’s it!

Some tips...We tried a couple of different 4WKS capsules, Deluxe, Plato and Babylonstoren and all were good, however, the best were actually the slightly more developed roasts, so ask about that (but of course it’s personal preference) and actually the thing that made the most difference to flavour, is to not use too much water! Our best results came from filling the reservoir 3/4 of the way.

It is very easy to clean and re-load - the best of our three options for making multiple coffees, despite only being able to pull a single shot at a time.

If you like simple, no mess, no fuss coffee on the go, this baby is for you!
