The
Speciality Coffee Association of America (SCAA) created the traditional flavour wheel that any of you that have been on a coffee appreciation course or have been trained as a barista will recognise:
Just in time for the new year,
Counter Culture Coffee have released a new take on tradition by releasing their own version of the wheel. We're fans of Counter Culture, their trainer
Erin Meister brought us the debate on Italian Style vs Third Wave Style coffee in

This wheel uses vocab that is more accessible but no less in-depth, in fact, it seems a little bit more detailed, finding more synonyms for sweet&sugary than we could imagine! The best improvement in our opinion are the blocks for Body and Adjectives&Intensifiers. Very useful and much simpler than the 2nd wheel of SCAA.
It's not necessary to be able to distinguish the flavours in your cup, but it sure is fun, especially with tastes like sundried tomato, black cherry, sweet bread pastry and pecan awaiting you!
So what did you taste in your coffee cup this morning?
Welcome to 2014. Let's get coffee tasting!
