New Kid on the Block: Noble Coffee, Durban North

Thursday, 7 November, 2024

Noble Coffee's new spot in Durban North is creating quite a buzz! Since opening its doors a few weeks ago, the cafe has been extremely well patronised and pumping out coffee and plates of food at high volume!

These things do not happen by chance or by accident, and so it is no surprise to reveal that behind this beautifully crafted space and the wonderful products, is a team with a vast amount of experience!

Dylan Botha originally started Noble Coffee in the Artspace Gallery, Umgeni Road almost a decade ago. He was a regular on the KZN competition scene  - competing, training and coaching  - even organising! He has since spent a few years in Howick running Village at Yard 41 (see our blog on this from back in the day!).  Cue Craig Smith of Ground Coffee House and Manna Roastery in Hilton - rapidly expanding their footprint of quality coffee offerings. Craig and Dylan worked closely on the Yard 41 project for years before re-inventing the iteration of Noble Coffee you now find in Broadway, Durban North.

So what can you expect?

Well, for a start, you can see they have invested in all the right things - a VA White Easgle espresso machine sits on top of the bar with two (yes, two) NS Mythos grinders - one with the Noble blend and the other with something a little special, for the discerning customer. The decor of green, white and grey is simple yet classy, the space is meticulously well used and the food is a wonderful variety of cafe fare that is perfect for the setting.

This has traditionally been a difficult piece of real estate to operate a retail store from, but the Noble team has done a fantastic job of re-imagining how the cafe can present itself to the very busy street outside, while retaining a cool, calm environment that you want to stop and spend time in.

The coffee is sensational, and the cafe experience is highly enjoyable.
