Cafe Focus: Brix Coffee & Company

Brix Coffee and Company, much like its name suggests, is all about balance and precision. The café, located in Craighall Park, lives up to its name, which is a clever play on the Brix scale: a measurement used to determine the sugar content in fruits (in coffee cherries too!). Just like the way Brix measures sweetness with scientific precision, this café balances its aesthetic and offerings with equal care.

You can’t help but notice its sandstone allure from afar. The desert colour palette, accentuated with cacti, creates a minimalist yet welcoming space that pulls you in, inviting you to observe its every detail.

Stepping inside feels like entering a calm, sunlit sanctuary. The neutral tones, textured walls, and earthy finishes all work together to transport you to a space that feels distant from the city. There’s something grounding about its design, like the desert itself, Brix is simple but full of quiet depth. The atmosphere immediately soothes you, and it’s easy to lose track of time in its warm surroundings.

Brix Coffee and Company prides itself on its coffee, serving Morrico’s El Salvador blend—a delicate balance of flavours with subtle acidity, bright citrus notes, and a clean finish.

In addition to their standout coffee, the café offers a broad self-service menu, perfect for those on the move. Everything is freshly made, from grab-and-go options to hearty bites, ensuring that whether you're stopping by for a quick snack or a leisurely coffee break, Brix has you covered.

Brix Coffee and Company has a youthful energy but also a grounded feel. It truly is a café where time feels less hurried, where the aesthetic invites you to linger a little longer. I left Brix Coffee & Company feeling content, reminded of how an early morning can feel less tough when you’re served a good cup in a thoughtful space, a simple yet powerful ritual to start everyday on a good frequency.
