Cafe Focus: Heavenly Coffee - Centurion

Friday, 10 April, 2026

Heavenly Coffee is an institution in the Pretoria Coffee scene. Started from their home in 2012 by Francios Dreyer and his family, then moving into their first commercial space in 2015, they have been a huge part of the community.

The very definition of a family business, Francios is still very hands-on, his wife Ella is the financial manager, the eldest daughter Michelle is the wholesale and production manager and youngest daughter Yolanda is the general manager!

Heavenly was one of the early artisan roasters.  From supporting all the coffee expo’s shows and events, to becoming one of the leading home equipment retailer in the region, to being one of the constant voices of common sense in the many debates and dialogues around coffee in SA.

This visit to Heavenly was long overdue.

Heavenly Coffees, Centurion.

Walking into the Centurion branch, it is everything I thought it would be and more. Locals enjoying coffee and absolutely delicious breakfasts in the back, a training / brew bar along one wall, the retail section in the font next to the takeaway espresso bar and a large selection of retail items for the coffee lovers of Pretoria!

So many coffee goodies to buy!

All the brewing gadgets. Pourover anyone?

Sadly François was out when I popped in for a quick coffee, but as soon as I texted him, I got the response I expected “ Sorry I missed you, I was out training at a client” - Francois is always hard at work!

The very efficient brew bar!

The coffee I had was a cortardo - perfectly poured and beautifully balanced. The service was excellent (though I think they were surprised to have to speak English!) and they were very attentive. You can see why Heavenly Coffees has stood the test of time and is still a leader and inspiration to other coffee companies around here - passionate people, with a deep love for coffee and coffee culture.
