We have a brand new Discover Great Coffee Club Box launching today, and the first coffee we want to highlight is from Tribe Coffee, Cape Town!
If you like chocolata and getting caught in the rain… meet your Guatemalan fling. The Tribe Guatemala Chocolate Block is rich, it’s bold, and dripping in chocolatey goodness. Some seasons it’s dark and moody, other times it’s milky and nutty. This year? Straight fire. Full-bodied, silky, and seriously moreish. One sip and you’re hooked.
Tribe is one of the most renown coffee roasteries in South Africa, and now part of the Origin/Truth/Tribe Family, they bring us the same quirkiness, colour and flavour that sets them apart.
The Guatemala Chocolate Block not only has an enticing name (we'll get to that later!) but comes in these very cool cylinders with the most eye-catching designs. Tribe have always been known as innovators and mavericks in the coffee industry and this coffee (the whole range actually!) is testament to this.
Look at those beans! We could smell the hints of dark chocolate in the dry fragrance the second we opened the lid!
I immediately wanted to dive into the chocolate flavours and so chose espresso as my method of choice to get the full concentration of flavour possible! And boy, did this coffee deliver! As i opened the lid, my nostrils flared with the sweet rich scent of cacao nibs and dark tempered chocolate.
The crema on the rich, golden espresso shot was thick and fresh!
The espresso shot was stunning! Rich, thick and full of those tell-tale tiger stripes that make you want to down it like a shot at the bar! But...I restrained myself (barely) and steamed the milk to create a thick, luxurious cappuccino which was velvety, smooth and tasted like a chocolate dream. Of course, i had a piece of dark chocolate to go with it! Yum!!
It's called Chocolate block. I mean.... what's not to love?
