We are incredibly proud to announce that our very own Daniel Smith has achieved a historic milestone at the prestigious Lavazza Barista Challenge International , securing 2nd Place in the World.
Competing against the globe’s elite coffee professionals, Daniel delivered a masterclass in technique and storytelling. His performance didn't just earn him a spot on the podium; it solidified his reputation as one of the most innovative baristas in the industry today. A Fusion of Heritage and Craft.
In addition to his overall silver medal, Daniel was honoured with the Special Tales of Italy Award. This distinction is reserved for the barista who most authentically embodies and elevates the "Tales of Italy" narrative.
Daniel captivated the judges by weaving a sophisticated story that bridged two worlds:
The Essence of Italy: Honouring the deep-rooted traditions and elegance of Italian coffee culture.
The Spirit of South Africa: Infusing the presentation with a vibrant, soulful local twist that set his performance apart.
