After World of Coffee Dubai, we were lucky enough to visit Muscat briefly and connect with some of our A Shot in Dark competitors.
Azura is a roastery and cafe business based in Muscat, Oman and is certainly making a big impact, both locally and throughout the Middle East.
We first met the Azura team through ASITD Middle East, where they have consistently competed and challenged for the top spot over the past editions of the competition.
The team are dedicated, very professional and super humble. These guys just love coffee! And they are taking specialty coffee seriously. Under the leadership of extremely well travelled and knowledgeable (not just of coffee!) Managing Partner Mohammed Behlim and business development manager, Andrew Aramanious - the team at Azura have a brilliant thing going!
Their growth has been quick as the appetite for good coffee has grown in the region, and they now have six locations, with more on the way! They now have three roasters and the samples they are choosing from are only he best, having built relationships with most of their producers.
Their brand is sophisticated and minimalist, and a visit to their roastery in Al Ansab is testament to this vision. A very beautiful, clean, calm coffee space which includes everything from the cafe in the front, to training rooms, meeting rooms, cupping rooms, and the Roastery itself!
We were lucky enough to visit on a day when a few other coffee friends also happened to arrive - and we all cupped some incredible Colombian samples from the FNC and Nogales Coffee. A very tasty coincidence, thank you for including us!
Azura is a leader in the Omani specialty coffee scene, and we felt incredibly welcome and left feeling inspired.
