One of our favourite things about the ritual of making coffee or going to your favourite place to buy a cup, is that no matter how busy you are or what kind of day you are having, your cup of coffee can help you take a second to pause.
I (Iain) found myself in Oudtshoorn recently and with my trusty hand grinder, the simple French press at the accommodation and two of my favourite roasteries along for the ride, I took all the chances I could to pause and appreciate the beginning of the Spring blooms.
We are very blessed to live in such a beautiful country with nature all around us. Usually, I'm submerged in the ocean, but if not, then it's mountains, forests or bush, for me. I love bird-watching (yes, I'm a twitcher!) and I've started learning the butterflies (went down a massive rabbit-hole during lockdown - see my Instagram!) and as many indigenous trees as I can remember the Latin names of!
Oudtshoorn is in the "Little Karoo" (if one can call anything about the vast open spaces in the Karoo little!) and is home to the famous Cango Caves and the Ostrich industry! The quaint town has a buzzing tourism industry and more than 5 dedicated coffee shops! (I won't tell you which, you'll have to visit to find out!) It is a spectacular place to visit, especially in spring time!
So here's a little nod to that idea. A little selection of beautiful things from a beautiful place in the Little Karoo, just for you!
Happy spring!
