The Mont Blanc is taking the cafe world by storm globally. It is a luxurious and indulgent treat that looks and tastes amazing. They even come in different flavours! As with all trends, it had to start somewhere and the first known appearance of this flamboyant beverage was in Melbourne way back in 2021 at Good Measure, pretty much as soon as they opened their doors. So, note to cafe owners/future cafe owners: It is worth the time it takes to create a new and interesting beverage, you could be starting a global trend!!
So what was in the original: Filter coffee (over ice), dark sugar, cream, orange & nutmeg.
Five years later and there are recreations and drinks inspired by this classic, cold foam is all the rage and you can try one near you! Saves a bit of spending money for the trip to Australia.
In South Africa we had our first delicious Mont Blanc experience at Bootlegger HQ in Cape Town. A classic one and a tiramisu style one. And they were so tasty. Word to the wise though, this is an entire deal, do not attempt if you have also ordered food items. It is rich and filling! To be fair, I might just be a lightweight.
