Create seamlessly blends the love of coffee with the art of ceramics.

There’s something about these two concepts coming together that feels profound. It’s a beautiful marriage of craftsmanship. At the heart of both coffee and ceramics is a form of transformation. Coffee beans start as simple seeds, which are roasted, ground, and brewed into a rich delicious beverage. Similarly, raw clay is shaped, glazed, and fired into a durable work of art. This cafe showcases two processes that speak to raw materials and the artistry required to bring them to life.

As you walk in, you’re warmly greeted and guided through the delicate process of choosing a ceramic piece to paint and design. The options are plentiful, ranging from bowls and mugs to various shapes that spark your imagination. Each item is a blank canvas, waiting for your personal touch. Predictably, I chose a mug that I’ll inevitably use for my coffee.

Once you’ve made your selection, the next step is choosing from an array of vibrant paint colors. They have bold hues or subtle tones, a generous selection of paints for every artistic vision. Whether you’re an experienced artist or a curious beginner, the environment is so welcoming and encourages creativity and a meditative level of focus.

The experience wouldn’t be complete without a cup of coffee. Create Lonehill proudly serves “Barney’s Blend,” a simple and well balanced medium roast, known for its association with “Barney’s Army,” a charitable foundation started by former Rugby captain John Smith, this coffee carries with it a sense of purpose and community.

As I finished painting my mug, I found amusement in the imperfect strokes and unplanned details that made it uniquely mine. I’m looking forward to seeing how my mug transforms, after it’s glazed and fired, knowing that its imperfections will only add to its charm.

This experience was a beautiful blend of artistry, leaving me excited to return and grow my collection of perfectly imperfect mugs. Each one tells its own story, making my coffee moments even more special.
