THE RAREST COFFEE ON EARTH

Describing something as ‘the world’s rarest coffee’ is no small claim - but when it comes to Racemosa, it’s just about spot on.

We're not just excited, we're honoured to bring you the rarest of the rare. A previously unknown species of coffee, Racemosa remains an uncultivated varietal thought to be long lost but now rediscovered; meaning it tastes unlike any coffee you’ve ever known.

WHY IT’S SO UNIQUE

After almost disappearing during Mozambique’s War of Independence, Racemosa has found new life on South Africa’s East Coast, in the wild regions of Hluhluwe and Ballito.

Indigenous to the wild coastal sand forests along the Elephant Coast, this coffee grows in one of the most untamed corners of the continent, has unpredictable growth cycles and faces unique environmental challenges.

In 2024, only 14 kilos of Racemosa were harvested for the entire world.

Unlike other coffees, Racemosa’s naturally low caffeine profile delivers a pure, unprocessed experience without the need for artificial decaffeination. This makes it a go-to for the health-conscious or those who want the richness of coffee without the jitters.

WHERE IT GROWS

Grown along the Elephant Coast, Racemosa thrives in sandy soils at altitudes from sea level to 600 meters. It’s a coffee designed by nature to be resilient, drought-tolerant, and suited to its native land without herbicides or pesticides. Only two small plantations grow Racemosa commercially, preserving its scarcity and its unique, regional identity.

THE DELICATE ART OF ROASTING

Each tiny Racemosa bean undergoes an intricate roasting process, where our master roasters even employ stethoscopes to hear that first crack. Its delicate nature demands expertise, balance, and risk. Our Racemosa coffee holds an extraordinary range of flavours - complex and layered like a cluster of grapes, with notes of cinnamon, blackcurrant, eucalyptus, lavender, mint, thyme, camphor, cannabis, and clove.

Roasted in small batches to preserve its nuanced profile, Racemosa isn’t just another coffee; it’s a testament to Truth’s commitment to coffee mastery. This season’s batch was limited to a mere 14 kilograms, with Truth securing just 5 of those. It’s no wonder that drinking Racemosa is like tasting liquid gold.

LOOKING AHEAD

At TRUTH Coffee, we’re committed to securing the future of coffee through our partnership with Charles Denison of Cultivar. Climate change is reshaping the landscape of coffee, and

Racemosa is a potential component to creating a sustainable path forward for the next generation of coffee.

Charles Denison says it best: "Climate change forces us to adjust the lens through which we view coffee. We should explore and support local producers pushing the boundaries of what coffee can be."

TASTE THE EXTRAORDINARY

For those bold enough to discover the rarest coffee, Racemosa offers more than a drink; it’s an invitation to the inner circle. At R1499.00 for 80g, Racemosa isn’t just coffee - it’s an experience, a secret only a few will ever know.
