Well done, Jack Simpson of Australia!
At the 25th World Barista Championship held at HOSTMilano 17-21 October 2025, Jack Simpson became the Champion.

Of course, CONGRATULATIONS on this unbelievable achievement! But, thank you. For presenting a deeply personal story on the World Barista Championship stage. For caring so much about coffee producers and taking your responsibility as a barista so seriously. I think everyone could feel the emotion in that 15 minutes. Even if you know nothing about coffee competitions, maybe this one will make you want to delve a little deeper. You can watch it below.
We first had the opportunity to meet & laugh with Jack on the Athens stage in 2023 where we chatted sport (as Saffas and Aussies are bound to do!). That year he placed 3rd.
2024 in Busan he so narrowly came 2nd.
2025, the title is his!
Wow! Perseverance is certainly one of the necessary qualities to be successful in this format as evidenced by the other great baristas he was up against each year. But humility and willingness to give of your time and knowledge are the real superpowers of a World Barista Champion. Mikael Jasin has been such a great ambassador for coffee and we’ve no doubt Jack will be too. What a sweet moment as the title changed hands.

The fact of the matter is that every barista who competed had exceptional coffees to present. All three baristas on the podium Ben Put of Canada, Simon SunLei of China and Jack, used Panama Geishas. So then what does it come down to? It comes down to the story they tell on stage, the justice they do to the product.
Congratulations to every barista and every person who invested their time and resources in this year’s cycle. You’re inspiring leagues of coffee people. Thank you.
Jack was kind enough to sit with us for an interview after we met him in 2023, we knew he was one to watch! You can read it on the website. At that point he was yet to visit the beautiful producers he represented on stage. It made all the difference.
