FIND IT: 78 Regent Rd, Sea Point, Cape Town, South Africa

One of the real treats of exploring a city on foot is being surprised and delighted by spaces and how they're used. Case in point, Kanéla Cafe on the Seapoint strip. After a sublime, lazy Sunday lunch at Ariel, we were walking back to the car and I saw the Kanéla sign beckoning. Many months ago one of my friends had told me it was his go-to as he works in the area. And not wanting the glow of the a lunch with friends to wear off, I suggested we check it out.

Arriving in the small entry hall, one could be mistaken for thinking it is a sweet takeaway spot, but take a step through the first door and you find yourself in a cosy room complete with roaring fire place. Take a walk a bit further and you find other rooms and a beautiful courtyard (for another, sunnier time in rainy Cape Town. A whole building of lovely corners and nooks to accommodate your coffee and treat needs.

We settled on the cozy fireplace section befitting the foul weather outside. Coffees were well made and comforting and the ambiance was wonderful.

I look forward to trying their food menu, it looks enticing and beautiful. Keep up to date with seasonal specials via their Instagram (Warning: their Social Media game is strong, you will want to be there everyday) and as an added bonus get there for their R20 coffee special, daily before 8.45am from the takeaway hatch (Ts&Cs of course apply).

All images courtesy of their Instagram Page, it's a beaut and spreads good vibes!
