Coffee is a lifestyle. This simple philosophy has opened up to so many exciting coffee adventures for us over the years, and for every adventure - new coffee related gear!
So I was really stoked when an old coffee colleague, Idan, from Cape Town got in touch, and knowing I love surfing and the outdoors, he sent me this little beaut:
It’s called a HAMI!
“The brand was created by my wife and I. HAMI speaks to everyone being an outdoor enthusiast from campers, explorers, surfers, mountain bikers or even a parent encouraging their kids to spend more time outdoors!” says Idan.
I happened to be going down the coast for the school holidays and I chucked it in the car along with all the surfboards, beach gear and of course the old espresso machine setup that also goes everywhere with me!
First - coffee. Then tackle the HAMI setup.
Even the espresso machine setup goes on holiday!
I was impressed by how light and compact it is:
Hammock, two straps, two carabiners. All you need is the perfect spot to hang!
Then I was impressed with how simple, yet robust it is. It is made from 100% recycled materials and literally took under 60 secs to set up between 2 trees:
The tree set up!
But I couldn’t see the ocean clearly, (and there were lots of whales jumping) so I went for the verandah:
Just hanging out. What a view!
“The Hammock culture in South Africa is fairly new, but MASSIVE worldwide with students, teenagers and the old folks! Says Idan. “
As soon as it was setup, my mates piled in, the kids piled in and it was used non-stop the whole weekend!
Later I discovered my buddy Stefan taking a post-surf snooze in the HAMI!
Some technical things that I like about the HAMI, from my first experience:
It’s really compact and light.
It comes with two carabiners.
It come with two looped (very clever) and flat steps (also very clever - not abrasive like round ropes)
It is super strong!
“Our launch mission and objective is to engage our brand with the local RSA market. A portable "Grab and GO!" hammock is great for outdoor lifestyle activities such as outdoor festivals, hikes, trails, camping and especially when your backyard is Table Mountain, it's difficult to ignore the pull to spend more time outdoors and NOT to forget time out having a MOKA POT in the forest .. no better way to switch off nested under a tree or out someone with no distractions!” Say Idan
You see? He gets it. Now get out there South Africa!
